Kowatch’s art is an exploration of stillness and the human condition, inspired by a lifelong pursuit of mindfulness and presence. With Jeux de Mojo, I delve into the mysterious interplay between energy and stillness—how the rhythm of life can cast a spell, drawing us into a deeper awareness of our shared humanity.
The title Jeux de Mojo is a playful twist on the French saying jeux de mot, meaning “wordplay.” Here, the phrase extends beyond language into the realm of visual and emotional expression, evoking the magic of transformation and enchantment. The term “mojo” suggests spellcasting and mysterious energy, which resonates deeply with my creative process. Each painting becomes a kind of incantation—an invitation to pause, reflect, and experience the alchemy of color, texture, and form.

ARTWORK HIGHLIGHT - Rock Demarco
In a time of political uncertainty and cultural reckoning, Rock Demarco’s untitled painting offers a visceral reinterpretation of one of the most enduring symbols of American identity—the Statue of Liberty. With neon-infused chiaroscuro, Demarco transforms Lady Liberty from a stoic beacon into an electrified, almost spectral presence, her face partially veiled in shadow and color that flickers between defiance and despair.
At 60" x 48", this monumental work is more than a painting—it’s a declaration. The bold brushstrokes and feverish color palette recall the urgency of Basquiat, yet the meticulous layering of pigment channels Warhol’s pop-driven critique of political iconography. Against a fractured, burning sky and an eerily detached Brooklyn Bridge, this Liberty feels displaced, suspended between history and an uncertain future.
In today’s polarized landscape, where debates over democracy, immigration, and national identity dominate the discourse, this work interrogates the very ideals she represents. Is Lady Liberty still the hopeful emblem of refuge, or does she now bear the weary burden of a divided nation? The red stars in the background—whether a nod to global power struggles or domestic upheaval—only deepen the question.
For collectors, this is not just art—it’s an artifact of the present moment. Demarco’s work is an invitation to own a conversation piece that speaks volumes in any space, whether in a contemporary residence or a high-profile collection. Few artworks so perfectly encapsulate the turbulence of America today while remaining undeniably, arrestingly beautiful.
